What a roof replacement permit costs in California

The figures are not comparable to one another: some are flat minimums, some a percentage of job value, some charged per fixture, so what you pay depends on which schedule applies and on your job's valuation.
No re-roof line item appears in the Building Inspection Department Service Fee Schedule (Schedule A, effective July 1, 2024); a re-roof permit is priced from construction valuation on the Schedule A building permit fee table, which begins '$140.00 minimum permit issuance fee' for $1.00 to $1,000.00 of valuation and reads '$289.41 for the first $5,000 plus $18.42 for each additional $1,000.00 or fraction thereof, to and including $10,000' in the next tier, plus a $20.00 single-permit processing fee.

Land Development Fee Schedule item 14, "Re-Roofs - Residential": Building Permit / Inspection $150.00 per permit and Processing $38.00 per permit.
